Arda Gerkens served in the House of Representatives and Senate for a total of 18 years. She was vice-president in both Houses. As a member of the House of Representatives, she drafted the first initiative report on Dutch popmusic and co-wrote the bill to restrict the resale of concert tickets. Gerkens is now president of the board of the Online Terrorist and Child sexual abuse Material Authority. She is also chair of the Supervisory Board of the NVPI, the trade organization for the Music and Film Industry. As chair, she was also involved in the assessment committee of the Music Investment Fund, the fund that allowed musicians to continue working during the Covid pandemic.
