Roskilde Festival
Kara Djurhuus is Head of Philanthropy for the Roskilde Festival-group, leading the Roskilde Festival-groups philanthropic efforts to strengthen the role of art in society and enhance the influence and engagement of young people to accelerate new ideas for a more sustainable world – from a climate, social and cultural perspective. Kara has been Roskilde Festivals lead in the EU funded Fusion project exploring the potential of festivals as platforms for social innovation, she is representing Roskilde Festival in the Human Rights Alliance in Denmark and Roskilde Festivals collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seeking to engage more Danish young people in global agendas and collaborations for a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world. Before joining the Roskilde Festival Group in 2019, Kara Djurhuus’ professional career was in International Development working with the UN and the Red Cross in MENA, Africa, and Europe, latest as the International Director of the Danish Red Cross Youth (2015-19). Kara is an expert in the design and delivery of rights based social inclusion and civic engagement programmes particularly for youth and has an extensive understanding of the NGO and INGO sector.
