Bursting out of Cork City, BABYRAT are a collision of razor-sharp guitars, huge pop hooks and technicolour attitude. Self-described as ‘bitch-pop’, the four-piece occupy the space where punk-rockers and pop-lovers share the dancefloor, pairing the guitar-driven urgency of The Strokes and Paramore with the sharp lyricism and emotional immediacy of Olivia Rodrigo. Drawing inspiration from coming-of-age cinema, late-night friendships and the drama of growing up, they turn love, rage, heartbreak and bad decisions into something colourful, loud, playful and cathartic.
