DENA is Denitza Todorova, a Berlin-based songwriter and vocalist. Born and raised in Bulgaria, she moved to the German capital and started writing music, singing and programming beats. Impressed by her vocals, Erlend Øye asked her to sing on both The Whitest Boy Alive albums. Her own songs are more pop based, with influences from hip-hop, old school R&B and dance music. The single Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools was released on the Kitsuné label in early 2013, followed by a gig at SXSW. Her latest single Guest List features Kool A.D. and is a preview of what's to expect from her debut album, recorded at Kaiku Studios with Finnish producer Jonas Verwijnen.
