Fumaça Preta started as a studio experiment when Portuguese-Venezuelan producer and percussionist Alex Figueira invited some friends to join him in his studio. The songs became an album that brings together elements of tropicalia, psychedelia, fuzz funk, musique concrete, acid house and electronics, with African, Brazilian and Latin rhythms. Live, the band likes to experiment, but also whips up a solid psychedelic groove.
