Jan Verstraeten must be one of the most common names in Belgium. You would never associate it with the Disneyesque strings, cinematic indie pop and lo-fi bossa nova that make up his intriguing debut EP Cheap Dreams. The visual artist and musician suddenly exploded out of a small room in a grey provincial town. That’s where Verstraeten worked on his debut for years.
