The time producers take to fine-tune a sound says a lot about the desperation they sometimes have to find the right vocalist for their songs. You can't imagine how happy those producers were when they heard the singing voice of Jessie Ware on the track by SBTRKT. The British lady decided, after finishing her English literature degree at Sussex University, Brighton, to lend her voice to Man Like Me and to become a backing vocalist for her old school friend Jack Peñate. Through the bass player of Peñate, a man who was also working for XL Recordings, she got to know the music of SBTRKT and got in touch with him. Now we can hear Ware not only on songs like and Right Thing To Do, she also worked with Sampha, the other SBTRKT vocalist, on the beautiful song . Ware is inspired by the divas of the 80s, like Diana Ross and Chaka Khan, with the firm intention of bringing it up to date. Her voice is full of soul and melancholy, and with her love for r&b, 2-step and soul she makes music that is a must-hear for those who like the newest bleeps as well as for those who like the golden diva's.
