Lefties Soul Connection
ESNS: 2012
Is this Dutch? Or is it a band from the sixties somewhere in the deep South of the US? Well, it is Dutch. A four-piece band from Amsterdam influenced by raw funk bands from the sixties and early seventies like the Meters, Booker T. & the MGs, James Brown, the Mighty Imperials, Larry Ellis & the Black Hammer and Eddie Bo. On their third album One Punch Pete they have coined the term garagefunk. Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant wrote: "Lefties Soul Connection has developed rapidly into the best and coolest funk band, and even one of the best rock bands, of the Netherlands." Live they are accompanied by guitar player Paul Willemsen and singer Michelle David. Expect an explosion of funk, soul, rock, Hammond and an avalanche of dance grooves.
