Mikhael Paskalev
ESNS: 2013
Mikhael Paskalev, the Norwegian with a mustache, is pop music with roots in indie and alternative country rock. He is inspired by names such as Paul Simon, The Shins, Edward Sharpe, The Mamas & the Papas and The Everly brothers. Paskalevs set is dynamic and varies from songs accompanied only by his nylon-strung guitar, to a six-piece band with the occasional trumpet and a circus of energy. Paskalev has the ability to write very catchy songs. Something that was noticed outside of Norway where I Spy and Jive Baby (watch that brilliant video) were praised. As The Guardian wrote: “Mikhael Paskalev is most likely to become Norway's first international success since Annie or a-ha.”
