You can form a superband without super celebrities. New Build comprises three core members: Al Doyle, Felix Martin and Tom Hopkins. Al Doyle plays with Hot Chip and the now-retired LCD Soundsystem. Hot Chip's Felix Martin is a musician, producer & DJ, and Tom Hopkins is a studio engineer, sonic artist and electronic composer who has worked with a number of musicians, whilst also assisting Hot Chip with the production of their last studio album One Life Stand. Now you might know what to expect of New Build. They aspire to synthesize the yearning playfulness of artists such as Robert Wyatt, Eno, Peter Gabriel and John Cale, with the propulsive yet contemplative dance music of contemporary producers such as John Tejada, Kassem Mosse, Donnacha Costello and Objekt. They are also not averse to slow songs, monumental 80s synth textures, guitar solos and latin percussion work-outs. Live they are with six, and the audience has to be prepared for a full dance workout.
