De Popprijs has been awarded every year in January during Noorderslag since 1986. De Popprijs is presented to the person or artist who has made the most important contribution to Dutch pop music in the past year. Issues such as special artistic achievements, national and international success or a long-term career all play a role in this, but none of them are decisive: the final verdict is up to the jury.
