Founded in 2006 in Reykjavík, this Icelandic band is known for its melancholic, fairytale music. The second album Í Annan Heim spent over 100 weeks in the Top 30 of the Icelandic charts, also gathering praise from international media such as NME and Clash Magazine. Rökkurró's mesmerising tones are projected against a bleak and solitary backdrop, counter-pointed by the fragile but soothing voice of singer Hildur Kristín Stefánsdóttir, which gives a unique warmth to the songs. For the third album, and for the first time, the band recorded songs with English lyrics.
