School is Cool torpedoed to success: it happened so fast even the band members themselves don’t get it according to Johannes Genard, the singer of the band from Antwerp. The Belgian band had only just been formed when they won the Rock Rally 2010 which had an extraordinary line up that year (including: The Sore Losers, Amatorski, Willow). Especially single New Kids In Town will convince every doubter. They describe their music as African and baroque inspired indie pop with references to Pixies, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend and The Dodos. They forget to mention that the five piece is irresistibly enthusiastic, has composed incredible music and sounds as professional as if they’re the hippest band from Brooklyn that has been going for over a decade. They should start doing concerts at school lunch breaks, school absences would dramatically drop.
