Henriette and Catharina, a.k.a. Smerz, were raised in Norway but it wasn't until they relocated to Denmark that they started collaborating. Their signature synth pop is made up of speaker sucking bass and soulful vocal melodies, creating a modern sound that is uniquely Smerz, a collision of musical genres that, as FADER notes, “was incubated over years of late-night clubbing.” Their EP’s Okey and Have Fun are produced, programmed and sung entirely by the duo and released on XL Recordings.
