Still Corners
ESNS: 2012
Blogs, hipsters and sites fought to be the first to claim Still Corners was the best they had seen this year. The dreamy sounds of Beach House and soundtracks of non-existent movies by Broadcast were the references made after hearing the album Creatures Of An Hour, and especially single Endless Summer. “It’s about wishing and chasing after the fleeting sun of England and wishing for an endless summer - or at least that the summer would go on a bit longer”, says songwriter Greg Hughes, an American who met singer Tessa Murray in the train to London Bridge. A perfect match for Hughes, cinephile, who came to London to pursue a career in music. Who tried to get the vibe and atmosphere of old horror movies and foreign films into music. He succeeded. After hearing six songs The Guardian concluded: "three are magnificent, two are plain gorgeous, and one may come to define a genre yet to be named." Go and find out if they are real because they seem to good to be true.
