Talking to Turtles
ESNS: 2012
The biggest compliment for this duo from Leipzig, Germany came from fellow Germans Supershirt. They said: People who come from the same surroundings and time, share many memories and insights, even if they don't know each other. But not everyone has got the fortune that someone comes along and molds this, our, history in such magnificent appropriate melodies and lyrics, like Talking To Turtles." Sometimes they are described as the Moldy Peaches (the anti folk heroes) from Germany. Even though they don't sound German, rather American. Just as they sound warm, melancholic, weird and of course unique. In 2010 they released their debut album , a year later they brought us the sophomore album Oh, The Good Life. Recorded in Seattle, mixed in Omaha, if anyone wonders why Talking To Turtles sounds so American. On stage they are a four piece band who supported Angus & Julia Stone and First Aid Kit as well as all the shows they did on their own. Like a German festival director said: "Don’t miss it! A high on melancholy, oops I mean melody."
