Artists and cultural workers of the world, unite!

The working conditions of artists and cultural workers is a topic which has come to the fore in recent years. The need to take a closer look at these questions accelerated with the Covid pandemic, which simultaneously confirmed the importance of art and culture to the world while revealing the vulnerability and atypical nature of work in the cultural and creative sector. Just last year, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for an EU framework for artists and cultural professionals to improve their social and professional conditions. The issue also features prominently in the mission letter of the incoming EU Commissioner for Culture. Our panel of experts will discuss what’s needed to improve the conditions of artists and cultural workers, where we stand and what can realistically be done in the coming years.
