Within the current political climate, migration is increasingly framed a negative impact on Western society. From racist replacement theories to politically biased, false claims on job security, crime rates or cultural identity, migrant communities are often at the short end of the stick. In this panel, we aim to turn this narrative around, by looking into the positive impact migrant communities have on Europe’s music sector and society at large. We will be looking into best practices, sensibilities and intricacies of cultural collaboration and organization with community representatives and music venues, and will explore how cultural exchange actually works, for example in the creation of new music. By providing these insights we aim to contribute to further mutual understanding and to amplify the positive force that migrant communities are.
