MICHA had already been announced for Eurosonic, but he will also be performing at Noorderslag. With his powerful, raw voice, the singer-songwriter manages to touch the hearts of both Dutch festival-goers and radio listeners. The music of Sven Cilliers exists somewhere between the salty sea air and the city lights; he creates contemporary pop music that carries a sense of nostalgia.

Else Lena is a true storyteller, inspired by the French chanson. At Noorderslag, she and her eight-piece band will take you into her imaginative world. Maxime creates Dutch-language indie pop, blending classical elements and vocal harmonies with electronic influences.

Velocity Made Good cranks synthesizer up to earthquake inducing levelsl. The Frisian duo delivers a raw yet refined and overwhelming sound that leaves no one in the audience unmoved. The bizarre jazz-punk of shoom pulls you into a fever dream; driven by restless rhythms, loud guitars, and unbridled saxophone lines, an organized cacophony is guaranteed. The duo OO.OO creates music that defies easy explanation. After spending time performing internationally, they are returning to Dutch soil, with a promise to stir up some chaos.

The band Smudged delivers a thunderous demonstration of musical freedom. The four-piece combines Krautrock, noise punk, electro-pop, and techno in an unprecedented way. Terror-punk band BOMBSTRAP creates explosive hardcore; their music is like a bullet, charged with anarchistic alchemy and aimed straight at the heart of a corrupt society.

Traditionally, the Saturday of ESNS is dedicated entirely to Noorderslag. At De Oosterpoort, the festival’s closing day has been a key moment for Dutch pop music for decades, giving upcoming acts the opportunity to introduce themselves to a wider audience and hosting the award ceremony of the Popprijs.

ESNS27 takes place from 13 to 16 January in Groningen. From Wednesday to Friday, European artists will perform at various venues across the city as part of Eurosonic. Noorderslag takes place on Saturday 16 January at De Oosterpoort.
