A crucial element in discovering new music from various European regions in different genres. Availability alone is not enough; music must also be ‘discoverable’. In safeguarding Europeans cultural and linguistic diversity, discoverability of cultural content (not only music) has become a key element in European policy making.

The European ‘Discoverability Report’, published in 2026 dives deep into the subject of discoverability. Commissioned by the European Commission, this study examines how European cultural content is discovered and accessed in today’s digital environment. It assesses the current state of online discoverability of diverse European cultural works, with particular attention to the role of platforms, curation, and recommender systems, and identifies emerging challenges and areas for policy action.

This panel debate will not only present the most important findings and conclusions of this research, but will also discuss how to go forward in a digital surrounding that ensures musicians and artists to be successful in a diverse and sustainable cultural world. Because some things need to be fixed.
