Heko Scheltema is part of the knowledge center of the Vereniging van Evenementenmakers (VVEM), the Dutch trade organization representing the event industry. This center is dedicated to providing VVEM members with up-to-date, relevant information to support their work. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, fire safety, crowd management, environmental concerns, sustainability, health and safety, and emerging legislation.

Beyond information sharing, we also work externally to shape (national) legislation that affects the event industry. Additionally, we establish industry standards to drive continual improvement within the sector.

Heko is also actively involved with De Regelaar, a consultancy firm offering advice and support to individual event organizers and (local) governments. The company specializes in areas such as safety management and permit processes, ensuring smooth and compliant event execution.
